Brixton Culture Capital | 11.09.2025
Don't miss the grand opening of Brixton's newest art space - and everything happening this weekend.
This weekend, art lovers and families with kids who love to create art have something new to discover in Brixton. We have a new art gallery opening: Space to Dream—the first permanent art studio in the UK for young, talented artists.
Brixton has long been a community where art sits right at the heart of our culture. We have 198 Contemporary Arts & Learning, Block 336, Photofusion, the Brixton Art Gallery, BCA, The Transformation Gallery, Studio 73, Blue Shop Cottage, and, of course, our very own Vincent van Gogh House (after he moved to Brixton in 1873). The art scene in Brixton extends beyond formal galleries. Our area is famous for its vibrant street art, murals, and, of course, the annual Urban Art festival, which transforms Josephine Avenue into a huge outdoor art exhibition.
Space to Dream supports our young artists as we search for the next Van Gogh. Founded by Morgane and Fran, the studio will showcase its Inaugural Exhibition, "Dreams"—a curated selection of works by local, talented young artists. The exhibition will open on 13th September 2025. Come through at 15:00 for the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Unit 33, Brixton Village.
