Next week marks an incredible milestone: Impact Brixton is turning five years old in Brixton Village—and, remarkably, ten years since it began as Impact Hub Brixton, collaborating with Lambeth Council and the global Impact Hub network. It's a deeply personal journey shaped by the community that raised me.
When I first walked into Impact Hub Brixton, I was a wantrepreneur from Angel Town searching for support and connection. The basement of Lambeth Council—an old magistrates court—had been transformed into a creative space for entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners like myself. Brixton had its first co-working space: an ecosystem of collaboration, creativity, and most importantly, hope. Through this community, my hope evolved into higher ambitions and a clearer entrepreneurial purpose. So five years ago, when I learned Impact Hub Brixton was facing closure, I immediately knew that I and other members needed to step up and guide this vital community and space forward.
Check out this walk-through of our space if you have not seen it.
From our humble relaunch at Pop Brixton Village, we have grown into a thriving heart of Brixton Village. Growing from 60 members to over 400 today, we've supported thousands of entrepreneurs, artists, and freelancers, proving that community remains an incredibly powerful and transformative force.
A message from me. Gerald
