Brixton's famous Electric Avenue, immortalised in the 1981 Eddy Grant song "Electric Avenue," gets particularly festive during the Christmas season. The street, which was one of the first market streets to be electrically lit in London in the late 19th century, comes alive with holiday lights and decorations. During Christmas, the multicultural community of Brixton transforms the area with a unique blend of holiday celebrations, featuring Caribbean, African, and traditional British Christmas traditions. Local traders often decorate their shopfronts, and the market becomes a vibrant hub of seasonal activity, with street performances, holiday markets, and community gatherings that reflect the area's diverse cultural heritage.
The street's historical significance combined with its modern-day festive spirit makes it a particularly interesting place to experience Christmas in London.

Me First And The Gimme Gimmes
13th December - 6.30pm
For the uninitiated, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is THE punk super- group and cover band extraordinaire of 2024. Consisting of punk legends, John Reis, guitarist and lead vocals for Rocket from the Crypt, the celebrated scamp Joey
Cape from Lagwagon on guitar, Pinch from The Damned, on the skins. Add to our crew Fat Mike, master bassist from NOFX and CJ Ramone from a little band you may have heard of, The Ramones, rounded out by the incomparable crooner, Spike Slawson.
And So I Watch You From Afar & Delta Sleep
15th December - 6pm
And So I Watch You From Afar were born from freezing cold winters on the northernmost tip of Ireland. They play raw, charging, experimental music that is hard to define. Sometimes angular and noisy, sometimes pulsing, euphoric, overwhelming. The joy, the power, the escapism found in their live shows is fabled. In 2006 they jumped in the van and didn’t stop. Across Europe, USA, Russia, Asia, Central America, and Australia, touring relentlessly, they’ve slowly built a cult following around the world. Their albums are uncompromising and exploratory. The true spirit of independence, the definition of DIY, of realness and resolve.
