Brixton Culture Capital 16.01.2026
I missed Brixton
I’ve been quiet.
Not because Brixton stopped happening—if anything, it’s been moving faster than ever—but because I stepped back for a moment. Three weeks away. A pause. Some distance. And a chance to miss this place properly.
And I did.
I missed the messages. The “where’s the list?” DMs. The notes from people saying they’d planned their weekend around it. The reminder that this isn’t just a newsletter, it’s part of how people move through the neighbourhood.
So first: thank you.
To everyone who checked in, shared old issues, or signed up while we were offline, we see you.
The slightly wild thing is this: even while we were away, Brixton Culture Capital kept growing. New readers joined. More locals found us. More people decided that what happens here—culturally, creatively, socially—is worth paying attention to.
That matters.
Because 2026 is the year this moves from “a really good local list” to something more intentional. We’ve got long-planned interviews coming, access to spaces that aren’t shouting yet—members’ clubs, cultural rooms, hidden corners opening quietly in Brixton—and we’ll be sharing them first with you.
This is still a love letter to Brixton.
But it’s also becoming a map.
So, welcome back. Or welcome in, if you’re new here.
Let’s start the year properly.
Here’s what’s on.
🎟️ What’s On in Brixton (15 Jan → 21 Jan)

🎶 Music & Nightlife
✨ Fri, 16 Jan Celebrating Beyoncé: 10 Years of Lemonade @TheBluesKitchen
🕒 10:00 PM-3:00AM| A live-band love letter to Lemonade—performed front-to-back, loud and proud. Expect the big moments (“Formation”, “Sorry”, “Hold Up”) reimagined in energetic live renditions by Brixton musicians, then a pivot into late-night momentum: more hip-hop, R&B and afrobeats live sets, with DJs taking over until the early hours. 🎟️ Event info
✨ Fri, 16 Jan – Feel Good Fridays: Pableeto @effrasocial
🕒 10:00 PM–1:00 AM | House and disco that keeps the groove tight, not messy. Free entry, proper soundsystem warmth, and a Brixton Friday that doesn’t need a big-name headliner to move. 🎟️ Event info
✨ Sat, 17 Jan – Jammz: The Biggest R&B Party @hootanannybrixton
🕒 10:00 PM–3:00 AM | Big singalongs, heavy throwbacks, and a dancefloor that turns us all into a choir by midnight. If your week needs a reset button, this is the one you press . 🎟️ Event info
✨ Sat, 17 Jan – The Cxnty School Disco @brixtonjamm
🕒 10:00 PM–4:00 AM | A chaotic, joyful club-night mash-up: 2000s bangers, hyperpop swerves, and indie-sleaze classics with zero shame and maximum release. Dress up, dress down — just don’t stand still. 🎟️ Event info
🎨 Art & Heritage

✨ Fri, 16 Jan – “Left Hook” (Opening Drinks) @ascstudios
🕒 6:00 PM–9:00 PM | A proper quick-hit Brixton art moment: opening drinks for a short-run show at ASC Project Space — and it’s only on view this weekend, so you’re not “catching it later.” 🎟️ Event info
✨ Sat, 17 Jan – The Creators’ Studio (Free Photography Workshop) @photofusionuk
🕒 11:30 AM–4:30 PM | Free, hands-on photography sessions for 16–25s: shoot, edit, build confidence, and leave with work you can actually use. Bring curiosity — they’ll bring the structure. 🎟️ Event info
🧩 Everything Else (community, food, workshops, markets, talks)

✨ Fri, 16 Jan – Reggae Bingo @brixtonjamm
🕒 7:00 PM–10:00 PM | Bingo — but with basslines. Expect dancehall + reggae riddims, big crowd reactions, and prizes that hit harder when you’ve earned them by screaming “BINGO!” in a packed room. 🎟️ Event info
✨ Fri, 16 Jan – Meditation Challenge ’26: Lunchtime Session @brixton_buddhist_community
🕒 1:00 PM–2:00 PM | A grounded, in‑person meditation space at Brixton Buddhist Centre — no apps, no screens, just guided practice in community. Part of the Meditation Challenge ’26, which runs daily weekday lunchtime sessions plus Monday and Wednesday evenings, led by experienced teachers. A reset for your mind, not your feed.🎟️Find out more & sign up
✨ Sat, 17 Jan – Underground Tribe & Friends (1 Year Anniversary) @brixtonjamm

✨ Sat, 17 Jan – Find Your Future: Careers That Create a Better World @3spaceinternational
🕒 1:00 PM–5:00 PM | A practical, human-scale careers session for anyone aiming at climate, community, and purpose-led work. Expect talks, real pathways, and time to ask the questions you never get space for. 🎟️ Event info
