Brixton Culture Capital 19.03.2026
Why Brixton Is London’s Cultural Capital and whats on this week.
After a year of writing about Brixton’s night-time economy, its identity crisis, and the people building here — I’ve landed on something.
Brixton has every ingredient of a cultural capital. Not Soho — that’s a destination, not a community. Not Shoreditch — the originals moved on and the brands moved in. Brixton is different. Venezuelan, Colombian, Nigerian, Ghanaian, Jamaican, Asian, Portuguese, Italian — all with real community presence, all trading, all living the culture, not just referencing it.
Franco Manca, Honest Burger, Brixton Brewery — all exported from here. Chishuru is putting new Michelin stars in Mayfair, courtesy from SW9. Brixton Streetwear has turned a shopfront into a cultural centre. From Michelin stars to market stalls — all in one cultural square mile.
The only thing missing is us saying it out loud.
Brixton should be London’s cultural capital. Read the full piece

🍿 Fri 20 Mar–Wed 25 Mar – Arco @ The Ritzy
A bright, future-facing animated adventure with real emotional pull. A boy slips back through time into a damaged world, and the film turns that premise into something tender, urgent and visually rich. Among the films visibly listed on the Ritzy’s page for this week, Arco carries the strongest Rotten Tomatoes score I could verify.
