New Brixton Discounts, Brixton Competition to support Brixton nightlife.
I can’t believe it—yet again, another restaurant and bar is about to close in Brixton.
These are truly interesting times, and it’s never been more crucial to stand by the local businesses that have shaped this community for decades. I have lived in Brixton for over 30 years, and this is the most drastic change our creatives and businesses have seen. Market House, HACHA, Rudie’s Jamaican, Dogstar Salon, Queen’s Head, Wood & Water, SideChick, BrewDog, Barrio, Rum Kitchen, Pacific and the list goes on… have all closed.
Brixton, long celebrated for its vibrant nightlife and cultural scene, is witnessing a troubling wave of venue closures. Rising rents and lease issues have made it nearly impossible for independent businesses to survive in a market increasingly shaped by gentrification. Redevelopment and changing land use are pushing out longstanding venues as landlords chase higher-paying tenants, while the economic pressures of the post-pandemic era—coupled with inflation in food and energy prices—are squeezing even popular spots out of existence. These closures aren’t just about money; they represent a deeper struggle between regeneration and preservation, as the soul of Brixton’s community hangs in the balance.

Trending in Brixton? 🚨The Uncertain Future of Brixton Jamm.
Thunderclouds gather over Brixton Jamm, one of the beating hearts of our nightlife, as Twitter erupts with fury. This iconic venue—open nearly 20 years, birthing stars like Adele—teeters on edge, allegedly shadowed by soaring rents and looming redevelopment and licensing threats in a rapidly changing SW9. For nearly two decades, Jamm’s gritty stages have pulsed with reggae, house, and hip-hop, a defiant echo of Brixton’s soul. Its potential closure would gut our nightlife, echoing the loss of Dogstar and other legends. Locals are ready to storm the barricades—Jamm isn’t just a club; it’s our cultural lifeline. Can we save this last bastion of independent music, or will gentrification silence another piece of Brixton’s heartbeat? #SaveOurClubs #BrixtonLife
