Why Michael B. Jordan was in Brixton, What’s Trending, and Unmissable Brixton Events this weekend...
Michael B. Jordan was spotted strolling through Brixton Village, causing a stir of excitement among locals and lighting up social media feeds. The Creed and Black Panther star browsed local shops and grabbed lunch at our beloved Healthy Eaters, the iconic Jamaican spot in the heart of the market. So, why Brixton?
He came for the same reason Mike Tyson, Nelson Mandela, Idris Elba, Beyoncé, and even Rihanna were here: Brixton’s culture is magnetic. They come for the authenticity, vibrant energy, and creative soul that you can’t find elsewhere.

Hidden Gems: Newly Opened Food and Entertainment Spots in Brixton

Brixton has some new hidden gems to get excited about, offering everything from gourmet burgers to Caribbean spice and board games. At Buster’s Hamburger Bar, the humble burger gets a decadent twist with Welsh wagyu beef and a secret house sauce, all in a cosy Atlantic Road nook.
Flava Pepper on Brixton Hill brings a burst of island flavour – think tender oxtail stew and smoky jerk BBQ – courtesy of a local chef giving classic comfort food a Bajan spin.
Not far away in Brixton Village, Ain’t No Saint is part coffee shop, part art haven. You can sip a latte (or a cocktail) while soaking in the creative vibes – tattoos included – at this playful new hangout.
Meanwhile, under the railway arches, Otter Chaos invites you to roll dice and relax: a board game café stocked with hundreds of games, craft beers, and even handmade pizza. Each spot is a community passion project, making the neighbourhood buzz with fresh energy. These aren’t just new venues, they are experiences that make you feel like a true Brixton insider.

The BCC List Film & Theatre Guide
🎥Ritzy Brixton - Black Bag (2025) – ⭐️ 7.4/10
🔹 Showtimes: Sat 6:15 PM & 8:40 PM | Sun 6:25 PM & 8:40 PM.
Ignore the IMDB rating…… this looks great. I am watching. This is a tense spy thriller in which love and loyalty collide. A married intelligence duo faces suspicion and betrayal in a gripping, slow-burn drama. Stylish cinematography and razor-sharp tension make this one to watch.
🎥 Ritzy Brixton - I’m Still Here (2024) – ⭐️ 8.4/10
🔹 Best For: Those who love powerful historical dramas.
🔹 Showtimes: Sat 7:50 PM | Sun 4:30 PM.
Some films entertain, and then some films leave a mark. I’m Still Here falls into the latter. Set in 1971 Brazil, under the oppressive grip of military dictatorship, this story follows a mother who refuses to be silenced. Fernanda Montenegro is phenomenal, bringing raw, quiet strength to a role that demands every ounce of emotional depth. My Verdict: This is cinema with a purpose. If you appreciate stories of resilience and historical reflection, don’t miss it. The pacing is slow, but it’s deliberate, poetic-kind-of-slow, where every moment is carefully crafted to draw you into this mother’s struggle.
